Cenikor Designated as a Center of Excellence for Substance Use Disorder

Houston, TX, April 18 – Cenikor is proud to be named as a 2023 Center of Excellence (COE) for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) by Evernorth Behavioral Health, a Cigna corporation. To be deemed a COE for substance use disorder, Cenikor’s alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers across Texas and New Mexico met stringent cost and quality standards.

Cenikor’s COE designation came after being reviewed and rated on two key things: patient outcomes, or how successful a facility is at caring for patients undergoing certain treatment for substance use disorders, and cost-efficiency, the facility’s ability to deliver consistently excellent patient care while still keeping costs lower than average.

“Our focus is on providing high-quality, affordable services to the clients and communities we proudly serve,” remarked Bill Bailey, President and CEO of Cenikor. “Evernorth giving us their stamp of approval shows our vision gets results. Addiction is treatable, and our programs provide quality treatment that is equal to high-end programs at a fraction of the cost.”

Of the 38.4 million people aged 12 or older with a SUD only 0.5%, or 211,000 people, felt that they needed treatment and made an effort to go, according to results from the 2020 National Survey on Drug Use and Health Annual National Report. This highlights the importance of accessible programs to meet the ever-evolving needs of the population. Treatment providers must also ensure patients receive the most-effective treatment once admitted to an addiction facility. Evernorth quantifies patient outcomes with quality measures such as readmission rates and seven-day ambulatory follow-up.

Last year, Cenikor saw a 13% increase in clients served with a 56.6% completion rate in short-term residential and detox programs. Cenikor helps nearly 10,000 people per year on their individual roads to recovery thanks to a full continuum of care, including medical detox, inpatient residential, outpatient treatment, and medication-assisted treatment.

Cenikor is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers an array of successful rehabilitation programs, tailored to treat people who want to be free from substance use. Since its inception in 1967, Cenikor has been dedicated to helping those in need. Cenikor continues to evolve to offer supportive services to veterans, adults, and adolescents in several cities across Texas, and neighboring states. More than 300,000 lives have been changed in the process.
