Houston, TX, September 9, 2024— Cenikor, a leading nonprofit behavioral health treatment network helping over 14,000 people a year, is proud to announce the significant impact of its Harris County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Grant, which has successfully supported 1,204 individuals in their journeys toward recovery. The ARPA Grant has allowed Cenikor to break down barriers to treatment and promote a healthy, safe, supportive environment for an underserved portion of society.
The grant is specifically designated to provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for people with opioid use disorder, recovery housing to help those who are unhoused, and recovery support services (RSS) to ensure clients are connected to community resources and remain engaged in treatment for better long-term outcomes.
Consumers served through this initiative:
- 444 individuals accessed Medication Assisted Treatment for opioid use disorder.
- 123 people, who were experiencing homelessness because of substance use disorder, in Recovery Housing Rental Assistance.
- 376 adults and adolescents enrolled in Recovery Support Services with a recovery coach.
- 261 Care Coordination Connections have been made, helping clients access health insurance, medical care, mental health services, and outpatient support.
“Our mission at Cenikor is to provide behavioral healthcare services for all. When we empower recovery by breaking down barriers, incredible things happen,” said Bill Bailey, President and CEO at Cenikor Foundation. “The support from the ARPA Grant has allowed us to improve the lives of hundreds of individuals in Harris County. We are immensely grateful.”
The initiative has been made possible through the collaboration with community partners including the Harris Center, Harris County Hospital District, HCA Hospital System, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Bay Area Council on Drug Abuse, among other organizations. These partnerships are instrumental in ensuring access to essential recovery services for individuals in need.
